Outdoor summer music concerts on the courthouse lawn began in 2009 with the first concert performed by the Caribbean steel drums band, Soca Jukebox. They are currently scheduled to return to Platte City for the August 2025 summer concert.

Platte City Friends of the Arts organizes and sponsors the annual downtown summer concerts the 2nd Saturday of June, July and August. Funding that makes the concerts possible includes grants from the City of Platte City, Platte County Parks and Recreation Outreach Grant Program, Missouri Arts Council through Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies and local sponsors through Platte City Friends of the Arts.

Concerts begin at 7:00pm and end at 9:00pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or lawn blanket to sit and enjoy the concert on the courthouse lawn. Sidewalk chalk is available for kids of all ages. Connections Bank provides free cold water bottles, snacks and handheld fans at every concert. Car Clubs are welcome to park on Main Street within the street closures barriers.

At the June concert there is a $500 college scholarship singing contest for recently graduated, vocal music seniors to participate in. They can be from North Platte, West Platte or Platte County high schools. There is a limit of five participants. The audience votes by ballot to select their favorite singer.
